Class settlements extended CVT coverage on 2013–2016 Altima, 2013–2017 Sentra and 2014–2018 Rogue, among others. Most of those extensions have run out. Signs: shudder, jerking, hesitation and loss of power.
Transmission repair ↗On 2005–2010 Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra, the radiator’s transmission cooler can fail and mix coolant into the transmission fluid. Sluggish shifts and shudder follow.
Transmission diagnosis ↗Older 2.5L Altimas and Sentras were recalled for stalling from a crank sensor signal problem. If yours shuts off at low speed, get it checked.
Check engine light ↗Some 2006 Altimas and Sentras with the 2.5L were recalled for using too much oil. On any older Nissan, check the oil between changes.
