Car Paint Shop in Tomball, TX
Faded or peeling clear coat, a scuffed bumper or a full repaint? We paint cars, trucks and classics in our paint booth on Calvert Rd in Tomball.
Car Painting and Paint Repair in Tomball
Your paint is more than color. The clear coat on top protects it from sun and weather. Once that clear coat starts to fade, crack or peel, the Texas sun finishes the job fast, so catching it early keeps the repair smaller.
We’re a restoration and collision shop first, with our own paint booth. We paint after collision repairs, match paint on single panels and bumpers, refinish peeling clear coat, do full repaints and paint classic cars. We also take the smaller jobs: mirrors, scratches, bumpers and tiny dents.
We’re an independent shop, not in a contract with any insurance company, so we work for you, not them. If you’re claiming, we work with the insurance company for you. Our customers say we’re one of the best shops in Tomball. Text photos to 936-661-2675 and we’ll tell you what the job involves.
From One Panel to a Full Car Repaint
Paint after a wreck, one panel matched, clear coat peeling off, a full repaint or a classic? Here’s what each job involves and what it depends on.
Paint Repair After a Collision
After a wreck, the body work comes first: the damaged panels get straightened or replaced, then primed and painted. The aim is a repair you can’t pick out from the rest of the car.
Does insurance pay for paint after an accident?
If the damage is part of a covered claim, painting the repaired panels is part of the repair. We’re not in a contract with any insurance company, and we work with the insurer for you.
Can I pick my own body shop in Texas?
Yes. Your insurer can suggest a shop, but Texas law says they can’t limit your choice of repair shop. You can bring your car to us.
Why does the paint go past the damaged spot?
The new color is often blended into the panel next to the repair, so you don’t see a change in shade at the gap. That’s why a dented door can mean some paint on the fender too.
How much does collision paint repair cost?
It depends on how many panels need paint, whether parts are repaired or replaced, and the color. Text photos to 936-661-2675 and we’ll tell you what it involves.
Good to know: Take photos of the damage before anything is moved or repaired. They help with your claim.
Car Paint Matching for One Panel or a Bumper
A lot of paint jobs are just one part: a bumper, a door, a hood or a mirror. Spraying it isn’t the hard part. Getting the color to match paint that’s been in the sun for years is.
Where do I find my car’s paint code?
Usually on a sticker in the driver’s door jamb. On some cars it’s under the hood, in the trunk or in the glove box.
Why doesn’t touch-up paint match my car?
The same paint code can come in more than one shade, and your paint has faded since it left the factory. A proper match is checked against the car itself, in daylight.
How much does it cost to paint a bumper?
It depends on whether the bumper needs repair first or a new cover, and on the color. Some pearl colors take extra steps. Text photos to 936-661-2675 and we’ll tell you what it needs.
Can you paint just one door?
Yes. We take small jobs like single panels, bumpers and mirrors. Where it helps, we blend into the panel next to it so the color doesn’t change at the gap.
Good to know: Metallic and pearl colors are the hardest to match, so blending matters more on those.
Clear Coat Peeling Repair
Clear coat is the see-through top layer that protects the color. Years of Texas sun break it down until it goes cloudy, cracks and starts peeling off, usually on the roof, hood and trunk first.
What does clear coat peeling look like?
It starts as a dull or cloudy patch, then white, flaky edges where the clear is lifting off the color underneath. If you can catch it with a fingernail, it’s past polishing.
Can I fix peeling clear coat myself?
Not properly. Touch-up and spray cans don’t stick to failing clear. It has to be sanded off and the panel refinished, or the new layer just peels with the old one.
How much does clear coat repair cost?
It depends on how many panels are peeling and how far it’s gone. The roof and hood alone is a lot less work than the whole car. Text photos to 936-661-2675.
How do I stop clear coat peeling from spreading?
You can’t reverse it, but you can slow it down on the rest of the car: park in the shade or a garage, wash off bird droppings and bugs quickly, and keep a coat of wax or sealant on it.
Good to know: Catch it early. Refinishing a roof and hood is a much smaller job than waiting until every panel is peeling.
Full Car Repaint
A full repaint is mostly prep. Dents, rust and failed paint get fixed and sanded first, then primer, color and clear go on in the paint booth. The prep decides how long the paint lasts.
How much does it cost to repaint a car?
It depends on the size of the vehicle, how much body work and prep it needs, and whether it’s staying the same color. Text photos to 936-661-2675 and we’ll tell you what yours involves.
Does painting a car a different color cost more?
Yes, usually. The door jambs, under the hood and the trunk edges have to be painted too, or the old color shows every time you open a door.
Is it worth repainting a car?
If the body is solid and you plan to keep it, often yes. If there’s a lot of rust or hidden damage, that has to be fixed first, and we’ll tell you straight if it isn’t worth it.
Should I repaint or wrap my car?
A wrap is vinyl film stuck over the paint you already have. If the clear coat is peeling or there’s rust underneath, a wrap won’t fix it. Paint fixes the surface itself.
Good to know: Paint is only as good as the prep under it. Paint over rust or peeling clear and it comes back through.
Classic Car Paint
We restore classics, and paint is the last step of a lot of those builds. On an old car, most of the work is getting the body straight and free of rust before any color goes on.
How much does a classic car paint job cost?
It depends on what’s under the old paint. Rust, old filler and dents add hours before painting even starts. Text photos to 936-661-2675 or bring the car by.
Should a classic be stripped to bare metal?
Not always, but often, because you don’t know what’s under the paint. Old filler, hidden rust and layers of past paint jobs can all cause problems in new paint.
Can you match the original factory color?
Usually, yes. Most original colors can be mixed from the factory paint code. Some owners want the factory color, others go for something new.
Do you fix rust before painting?
Yes. We cut out rust and weld in new metal before paint, from floor pans to quarter panels. Paint over rust doesn’t last.
Good to know: Our paint booth keeps dust and bugs off fresh paint while it’s sprayed and drying.

Auto Paint Questions
Cost, peeling clear coat, color matching and classics: what people ask before they book paint work.
How much does it cost to paint a car?
It depends on the size of the vehicle, how much prep it needs and whether it’s staying the same color. Dents, rust and peeling clear coat all have to be fixed and sanded before any paint goes on, and that prep is where most of the time goes. Text photos to 936-661-2675 with the year, make and model.
Why is my clear coat peeling?
Mostly sun. UV light breaks down the clear coat over the years until it goes cloudy, cracks and lifts off the color underneath. Chips, scratches and a badly prepped old repair can start it too. The roof, hood and trunk usually go first because they get the most sun.
Can peeling clear coat be fixed without repainting?
Not once it’s peeling. Polishing and touch-up won’t bring lifting clear coat back. The bad clear has to be sanded off, then color and fresh clear go back on. Caught early, that can mean a couple of panels instead of the whole car.
Can you match my car’s paint color?
Yes. We start from your paint code, usually on a sticker in the driver’s door jamb, then check the color against the car itself. The same code can come in more than one shade and older paint fades, so the code alone isn’t enough. Where it helps, we blend into the next panel so the repair doesn’t stand out.
Can you paint just a bumper or one panel?
Yes. Small jobs are welcome: a bumper, a door, a hood, a mirror or a keyed panel. We fix the damage, paint the part and match it to the rest of the car.
Do you paint classic cars?
Yes. We restore classics, so a lot of our paint work is on old cars and trucks, often after rust repair or new panels. Most of a classic paint job is prep: fixing rust and dents, priming and block sanding until the body is straight, then painting in our paint booth.
